The Aston Martin Vulcan is a carbon fiber monster
powered by an 800-plus hp 7.0-liter V12. It was designed for the track. Just 24
will be built.
The Avro Vulcan, on the other hand, is an airplane --
specifically, a Cold War-era delta-winged strategic bomber powered by four
shrieking Rolls-Royce Olympus turbojets. It was designed to make life difficult
for the Russians. Just 136 were built, and this is the last one still flying
... and for just a few more weeks at that. It will be retired, permanently,
after a flight later this month.
